My Trip to the Taylor Swift "Reputation" Concert

Big reputation...

So, before I get started, I have to say that my friend Demi got us free tickets to the Taylor Swift concert, or else I would not have gone.

This is because:

1. Her concerts are hella expensive.

2. Camila Cabello is one of her opening acts. Meanwhile, Camila is known for saying racist remarks on social media and using the n-word to her band mates in the past (and never apologized).

3. I no longer endorse Swift due to her apolitical stance. Taylor says she's a feminist, but she made it clear in 2016 that she cared more about losing fans than taking a stand against Donald Trump, a known rapist and racist. Considering how many people look up to her, she could have used her voice to speak up for others and made a huge impact, but she chose not to. Therefore, I was super disappointed and pissed at her, which resulted in me not listening to her music anymore and unfollowing all of her social media accounts. #CANCELLED

Overall, Taylor is talented and can be generous, but she's obviously not an intersectional feminist. I'm not saying she's a bad person, but she's definitely problematic, especially since she's allowing Camila to open for her. It's just really messy.

So ANYWAYS, I used to love Taylor before 2016, and therefore knew all of her albums prior to Reputation. And a free concert??? What am I gonna do? Say no? I knew she'd put on a helluva show because I've seen snippets from her past concerts on Snapchat. So all I had to do was listen to her new album -- which was also free on Spotify. And I have to admit, her songs are still so freaking good and catchy.

And of course, I was right. She put on a SHOW. She even did a ton of throwback songs. It was so different from the Kendrick Lamar concert. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the Kendrick concert at Keybank Pavilion, but there were so many more elements of stage production at Heinz Field. The lights, fireworks, confetti, props, videos, costumes, choreography -- you name it and it was there. And we had fantastic seats thanks to my friend! I felt so lucky!

One of the coolest aspects of the concert was the synchronized, light-up bracelets handed to us at the door. They changed color and went along to the songs. Once the sun went down, the whole stadium looked like a galaxy.

All in all, despite not being the hugest fan of Taylor Swift anymore, I still thoroughly enjoyed her concert. Since this was only my second concert, this will be hard to top!
