Post-vacation blues are setting in...
Now that I'm back from vacation, I just wanted to share my love for food and beverages.
For our first full day in Florida, the first stop we made was at Fernandina beach. (Try saying that five times.) Right next to the shore, they had a restaurant called Sliders -- super convenient! To get started, I had a Bloody Mary, which was delicious. After that, our appetizers came, which included ahi tuna (one of my new obsessions) and nachos. Then I ordered a piña colada. Super good 'n sweet! For my main course, I had their oyster P.O.’boy special, and it was awesome. 10/10 for this meal!
Once the band at Sliders finished up, we headed to Palms Fish Camp restaurant for some more drinks. I had a strawberry daiquiri and a bush whacker which were both sweet but had completely different tastes. (For those who don’t know, a bush whacker is more of a chocolate milkshake kind of drink.) Both are great if you have a sweet-tooth like me!
Later that week, we went to eat at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in the middle of Jacksonville. Out of everything they had, my greatest discovery was their watermelon mojito. It might be my favorite drink of all time now.
Towards the end of our trip, we went to the Salty Pelican out by Amelia Island. I couldn’t help ordering another oyster P.O.’boy, but this time, I ordered it with a side of fried plantains -- best decision ever. It was something I’d never tasted before, almost like eating a banana nut muffin but not quite. Now I’ll have to go out of my way to buy plantains at the grocery store. Absolutely amazing!
Last but not least, I have to give credit to my family for making us some fine homemade food. For our last night at home, my parents fixed burgers, pork chops, and corn on the cob. Mom also made sure we had plenty of food for the car ride back to PA!
Overall, I’m already missing my family and I can’t wait to go back!
